What a year. To think that this time last year, my book had been read by only a couple of trusted readers, had no cover and existed only in an electronic format on my computer’s hard drive, from which it was glaring at me reproachfully! From the launch in April this year, the popularity of The Seventh Colour has been truly gratifying. People have responded to the story, to the themes and to the characters. The book has garnered positive reviews on Amazon from a range of readers, and from professional reviewers that I have read and respected like Blackgate and the British Fantasy Society.
I have also been using this year to become more immersed in the vibrant community of fantasy readers and writers in the UK and further afield, and it has been a real pleasure to meet a diverse range of interesting people, and to discover the stories that they are telling. Even those with considerably more experience than me have been nothing but supportive and encouraging, and I am currently working on the sequel in the knowledge that there are a number of willing readers who are looking forward to casting their eyes over the completed text once its done. As I have some time on my hands over the Christmas period, that will spur me on to make some serious progress with the remainder of the second book.
So thank you, one and all, to the readers, the fellow writers, to family and friends. I wish you a wonderful Christmas time to those who celebrate it, and all the very best for the New Year.
Finally, for those of you who haven’t yet picked up the book, or those who own it only in paperback copy, watch this space for a special Christmas treat courtesy of Kindle Direct Publishing, which I will be announcing on these pages in the next 24 hours!
